In the course of the TRUST AI HORIZON project, we faced the challenge of pushing up the TRL ladder, a specific forecasting component that by its very nature was rather limited as to its exploitation potential. Together with our business partners, we found that co creation could provide for an interesting and perhaps unharnessed path.
In this paper (accessible below), we describe how we practically used this promising cocreative path. We also generalise and question the ability of the TRL approach to model cocreative innovation, and suggest some amendments. One should recall that the TRL model emerged in the postwar era, dominated by the so-called producer and proprietary approach to innovation, and therefore yet unaware of the possibilities of collaborative approaches.
